Tag 11

Today's tag was quite lovely! A nice background technique with a brayer & watered-down Distress inks. What gives it a even cooler look, is the splatter of Metallic Alcohol ink! Now Tim says when embossing the fragments, to be careful as they'll melt. Well, he was right! I didn't happen to actually melt one, but I certainly was getting close! Two of them are actually slightly bowed.
But it is a neat effect, even if it's difficult to see in a photo. I didn't want to take the time to drill a hole, so I used silver glass glitter to make an ornament 'cap'. This also allowed me an area to adhere the fragment to the background using Glossy Accents! I also didn't have a stamp that was quite right, so I used Rub-onz by Graphics to create a phrase on my PC, print out & rub onto the tag!

Tag 10

Now this one certainly caught my attention. Don't know why. Maybe it's that darn Reindeer!
Being resourceful, I traced the image in the negative space of the grungeboard onto cardstock, trimmed it out, and overstamped it with another decorative stamp! Wall-ah, kewl Reindeer! I used Pearl-ex in Mink with Vintage Photo DI and a drop of gum arabic in my mini-mister (LOVE them) for the background. The deer was over-painted using Lemongrass mica powder with Future in a Koi brush....
In real life, it does have some nice shimmer to it! I think I may go back & edge this with Krylon gold marker. It seems to be missing something......

Tag 4

Well I'm certainly not doing these in any kind of order and may not get to all of them. I'm bummed as my supplier has backordered the Reindeer in Flight stamp set as well as the metallic crackle and the very coveted (at least by me) Picket Fence crackle I've been lusting over!
By I digress. Attached is Tag 4. I didn't print the image on canvas paper, although I do have I/J Canvas paper here. I had it printed on glossy photo paper, and just used what I had out. I also didn't have some of the other items Tim used, so again, I improvised.

12 tags of Christmas Tag 5

Today's tag is done using the new Seasonal Grungebord, Dabbers, and a cool resist technique. On a group I'm on, we were discussing using non-traditional Christmas colors, so I used Wild Plum and a Lettuce. And gold. LOTS of different textures here. The background resist was a bit tricky, so I did 4 tags at the same time, just in case. 1 totaly didn't work out, and # 3 is a bit sketchy but will work for something else I'm sure!
I didn't have any white word rub-ons, so I used a white Sharpie paint pen to write Peace. I did run my deers thru my Accucut with the cuttlebug folder, but seemed to loose the embossing along the way... Unless you see it in real life, where you CAN see it! Must have got a little crazy with the gold metallic overspray!
Thanks for stopping by!

12 Tags of Christmas Tag #2

Sing along now "On the 2nd day of Christmas Tim Holtz gifted art to me...."
Tim's on tag #3 of his 12 Tags of Christmas techniques. I did tag 2 first as I love LOVE love alcohol inks! Now the ol' smoosh method for creating the background isn't new, but the splatter effect is MOST kewl!
I didn't use the same stamps, colors or bellies as he did, nor do I think you have to. I think it's all about sharing the love, adapting and using supplies you have. Now, I would LOVE you all to purchase the supplies he suggests. Even BETTER if you bought them from Red Rubber Paper and Ink (me!) since I'm offering 25% off all supplies he uses for the tags PLUS free shipping for orders over $25.00. BUT enough of the shameless plug. I challenge you to improvise on his techniques and use your stash! I did. I made my bird from Shrink plastic, and used another brand of white rub-on's. If I hadn't had those, I would have tried stamping Snowcap Dabber with a flourish stamp. See what you can come up with.
In the meantime, enjoy Tim's tags at www.timholtz.typepad.com

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I hate pink. REALLY don't like the color, but find myself using it more in my art. Soft pink or fushia is 'do-able" but that bubble gum Barbie pink makes me want to gag!
I don't wear pink, although I did by a pink Green Bay Packer hat because it supports an extremely great & wonderful cause. It is the ONLY pink article of clothing I will wear.
So, not to ramble (??????????) but here is an ATC I made today using a Breast Cancer Awareness collage sheet from Lisa's Altered Art If you haven't been to her sight, GO. Go NOW. Great stuff. I ordered digital images and they are really nice.
