Sewing themed tags!

I offered to demo for our calligraphy guild, along with several other artists. The theme was revamping & recycling . I had several backgrounds ready to rock from the CC101 classes, and decided on a sewing theme.

I used vintage lace, buttons and old sewing patterns along with sewing themed stamps & texture fades. I used 2 sets from Tim Holtz, and one of the newer ones from Wendy Vecchi! I also used Tim's Sewing theme Texture Fade.

I also used old book, music and dictionary paper.

This one was done using one of the backgrounds I created during my frenzy of "Layered Misting" for day 4 of CC101. I think I made about a dozen tags as I L.O.V.E. using The Crafters Workshop Stencils! I did add some Biscotti Perfect Mist, which you can tell in the shimmer of the close up. I overstamped with Archival Jet black, using a beautiful stamp from Wendy Vecchi's set "ART BY HAND' LCS068. I used the Tattered Floral die along with vintage book pages & music sheets. There's Rock Candy Stickles on the flower, which is shows up in real life... the 'lace' at the bottom is a paper lace, colored with Distress Stain in Peeled Paint.

In this tag, the Dressform & spool are cut from Grungepaper, and painted using Dabbers. The background is done on book paper, inked with Stains left over on the craft sheet from making the flower in the tag above. MORE RECYCLING! There's vintage pattern paper adhered with Multi-medium on the bottom. The Stamps are again from the "ART BY HAND' set. I don't think you can tell as the ribbon is in the way, but the mini fasteners, are the PERFECT SIZE to use as the screw in the scissors!

A vintage button & threadding on the spool complete the look.

I love the way this turned out! I hand dyed the ribbon with Dusty Concord & Antique Linen Distress Stain. the vintage lace was died with Tea Dye & Vintage Photo Stains.
The tag was embossed with the Sewing set Texture Fade, then inked with Festive Berries, Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain Distress Inks.

I made a tiny tag from the Tiny Tag & Labels die. You can see Vintage pattern paper at the bottom of the tag.

The round piece is Grungeboard, painted with Picket Fence Distress Stain, stamped with Archival, then coated with Rock Candy Crackle. I then inked over it with some stains to add color.

Backgrounds

A group of friends from around the country are involved in an ATC Suduko swap. Like a round robin but with restraint! Not easy for to hold back! You're to add one element and the send it along.
Well this is our second one and know that I know more of what to expect, I say "game on ladies"!

Here's my background using the ol flick n spritz technique. I ran it through the mini bingo texture fade, sanded it lightly and added a weeee bit of Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.
Background done!

Now it's off to Maggi who will add the next layer/element as she sees fit.

Well today is filled with some exciting news

One of my suppliers, Product Performers, has provided the Online Catalog of all Current Tim Holtz
items.
These are items available under Sizzix, Stampers Anonymous, Ranger and Advantus. His Idea-ology, Cling Mount Stamp sets, Dies, Texture Fades, Ink, Stain and Dabber lines, in addition to the new ECLIPS Stamp2Cut line.

For those of you taking the Creative Chemistry Class, I am offering ALL the items in the supply list used during the class at 15% off! Email me for specifics.

Creative Chemistry Day 3

This was part of the Day 3 class. The technique is ARCHIVAL RESIST done on glossy paper.

I did lightly wipe some of the Vintage Photo Distress Ink off, with a slightly damp towel as I had stamped the chicken wire with Mustard Archival and wanted it to show more.
Rather than mount it to a black tag, I covered my tag with a vintage dress pattern paper. I added vintage seam binding, and seamstress pins and vintage buttons to finish it off.
Nobody likes a nekid tag!

I just love the dress form line!!!

This is done using the 'Reflection Stamping' technique. I didn't use a reflection stamp. I'm to hung up on the Mixed Media set!
I also used colored ARCHIVAL for the butterflies, and afterwards, used library green to stamp the vine-age on the top. I also cut and embossed the butterfly from the new Tim chocolate bunny BIGZ die set. This gave added depth I wanted the tag to have. The scrap at the bottom is from the Lace Border Decorative strip die. Love those! I also sanded off the raised, embossed area to make the detail of the shape pop. Guess I am, once again not following all the rules. I also oversprayed the tag with Biscotti Perfect Mist....

Creative chemistry 101

Tim is holding his first online class. Today showed 3 techniques.

This is a finished tag using the "wrinkle free distress" technique.

This is the Spritz & Flick Tecnique (an old favorite of mine!)
I used Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar and Grape Preserves

This is done on watercolor paper, and is called Brusheless Watercolor.
I used Broken China, Crushed Olive,Evergreen Bough and Grape Preserves.
I did add a twist to mine. While the Stamped background was still wet, I used a stamp from the new Mixed Media set, stamped into the wet ink, then stamped around the paper.
Pretty cool result I think!

This Wrinkle Free Distress. A classic!
