My version.... Faux Rust
So making some cards, and the Gadget and Gears Alterations die is CALLING MY NAME! In honor of 'earth day' I did want to recycle, so I'm using some craft paper here. Gives the piece even more texture.
Direct to paper, rub on some Wild Honey Distress ink. Leave some 'white space' as next you'll rub on some Rusty Hinge. Mist with water. Wait, wait, wait. Let those colors meld. THEN using a Cut n Dry rub in some Vintage Photo ink. let it blend a tad. THEN hit it with the heat gun....
The first photo shows off the effect.
I ran the piece through my BIGShot using the Gadget and Gears Alterations die. Oh MY I LOVE that die!!!!
VERY lightly rub on some Vintage Photo ink. Then apply some Vintage Photo Distress Embossing powder. You don't want complete coverage (or maybe you do, your choice, different look). Heat it, melt it, wait, then rub off the release crystals.
Ta Da! Just enough 'grit' for texture, without taking away from the background.
Now, off to finish the card! Stay tuned.....

A Caged Woman
I love it when I can 'do my own thing'. I'm making samples & backgrounds for some upcoming classes & demos. The new ALterations Dies are in from Tim Holtz' new spring collection and I've been DIE-ING to use it... LOVE this birdcage!!! I inked it with Distress Inks. The woman is a free image (will post from where later). I accented her jewels with Rock Candy Stickles (LOVE THIS STUFF) and added Mica to the bottom. And YES, it's newspaper on the bottom of the cage...
